• Notes

  The Scarboro Community was founded by three brothers in the early 1790s. Jonathan, David, and James Scarborough traveled from Virginia and settled here. Scarboro was one of four area communities that predated Oak Ridge. The community remained larely unchanged until the fall of 1942, when the creation of the secret Oak Ridge facility meant dispersal of the community. In the 1870 census she was listed as being 4 years old. 1910 census Kettle Falls, Stevens Co age 43 In 1930 was 63 listed as a lodger in Kettle Falls. I have her obituary. She died at the home of Samuel E Curry, her son. Found in a note in grandma's things: mother from Ireland, father from Scotland.
